Do not attempt a factory reset if your Scout is in an armed state! If you cannot arm or disarm your Scout, please head here.
This Factory reset process is for Scout Bike. For Scout Travel, please head here.
1. Remove Knog Mobile app connection
A. Open iOS->Settings->Bluetooth, and find the Knog Scout connection. Select the marker next to the connection. If you have more than one Scout, move to a position where only the Scout you would like to remove is in range and shown as Connected.
B. Select ‘Forget This Device’.
C. Open the Knog app, and remove the Scout.
2. Remove Scout from Find My Network
A. Open the Find My app, and select the Scout you would like to remove. Scroll down, and select the Remove Item option and remove the Scout. The Knog Scout is no longer registered with Find My after this step.
3. Factory Reset on Scout
A. Turn the Scout upside down and place on an horizontal surface.
B. Connect the Scout to power and at the same time, press and hold the button.
C. Continue to hold the button for 10 seconds, until 3 long beeps are heard. If you hear any other tone or melody, this will indicate an unsuccessful reset and you will need to repeat from the beginning of step 3.
Note: The process of connecting the USB-C cable and pressing the button must be performed at almost the exact same time for the reset to be successful, and so it can be common that a few attempts may be necessary to hear the three long beeps indicating a successful reset.
Some additional tips with the reset process if the Scout is making a tone other than three long identical beeps at the end of the reset:
- Make sure that the Scout has been placed upside down on a flat level surface before connecting the power cable during the reset (it must stay upside down and flat during the entire reset process).
- Pressing and holding the button just a split second after inserting the cable generally results in a successful reset.
- Ensure the charging cable you are using is connected to power - a brand name wall charger ( such as a USB-C MacBook charger) works best as some computer USB sockets and power banks may not be compatible and will not allow for a successful reset.
